Student Travel Grant Information

Student travel grants for IEEE DySPAN 2018 are available from IEEE Communications Society, NSF and Platinum and Diamond patrons.

Each student can be reimbursed up to $750, towards transportation and lodging. Applications for travel grants will be submitted via e-mail to the Student Grant chairs (see below) by September 14, 2018 and should include the following materials::

  1. A letter including the following information.
    • Title of accepted paper (if any)
    • A brief summary of research interests and accomplishments to date;
    • A description of areas reflected in the IEEE DySPAN 2018 program that would impact the  student’s research;
    • A statement about why the conference attendance is important to the student.
  2. The students’ curriculum vitae.
  3. A recommendation letter from the student’s advisor including the following.
    • Confirmation that the student is a graduate student in good standing at an accredited institution in the United States;
    • The suitability of the IEEE DySPAN 2018 program material to the student’s research area;
    • How the student would benefit from attendance at IEEE DySPAN 2018;
    • The strengths and potential contributions of the student;
    • Availability (or lack thereof) of travel funds for the student from NSF or other funding sources and a plan for how the student can get support to cover expenses beyond the travel grant.

Application Deadline: September 14, 2018  October 5, 2018
Notification Deadline: October 1, 2018  October 12, 2018

 

Eligibility:

IEEE Communications Society Grants and Patrons: Applications are invited from qualified full time undergraduate and graduate students. Priority will be given to students who have papers or posters accepted to the conference. In addition, the committee will consider evidence of research or serious interest in DSA networks and related policy areas and the goal of supporting promising students from underrepresented groups.

To apply, you need to send an email to the travel grant chairs (contact information below). A mandatory requirement is that you include the following text in the email subject: "[DySPAN18 Student grant application] Student name"
